An excellent starting point for your Scottish genealogy and family history is The Scottish
Association of Family History Societies. Once you have identified the region of Scotland
connected with your family you can contact The Family History Society for that area.
Many of the regional Family History Societies have a wealth of printed information you can obtain for a
modest price that just is not available at your local library or on the net. One of my favorites are kirkyard
records that list and map the location of graves in the kirkyard and detail the inscriptions on gravestones.
I have found many ancestors using these booklets. The are a great aid for finding graves
on your trip to Scotland. Money very well spent.
In addition to publications to aid your research I have had the good fortune of finding cousins who also
happened to be members of a regional Family History Society and added a great deal to my family history.
